The Field

The field began as an extension of Potter’s House 
and time spent in Mallorca. Creating a garden on 
the island offered an opportunity to understand 
the landscape, to experiment and to observe how certain plants would behave given different levels of interaction. Seeing these plants develop through the seasons provides insights that inform and enrich other projects in the studio.

As it has developed, the field has become a place 
for gardeners to visit, work together and share knowledge. We would like to build this community through discussion with experts, particularly with reference to expanding sustainable techniques of managing a Mediterranean garden.

The field is now in a transitional stage, as we 
define how best to shape its future evolution. 
The vision remains of a garden that can sustain 
itself and develop into full maturity with minimal intervention, whilst also being a place for 
learning and for shared experience.
